Admission

M.S. Application Deadlines & Instructions

Deadlines:  April 15th for fall semester admission; October 15th for spring semester admission

Materials: All application materials should be submitted electronically via the ApplyYourself Admissions System. We cannot review your application until all of the required materials listed below are submitted successfully.

    Required fields: Personal Information, Application Information, Educational Background, Languages, Awards & Activities, Employment/Residence Information, Financial Support, Applicant Statements #1 & #2, and Recommendations.

    Optional fields: All other fields or application materials are optional, but will be taken into consideration if submitted.

    Transcripts

    Unofficial transcripts or academic records should be uploaded directly to the online application. International students should also upload an English translation if the transcript is not in English. Please do not mail in paper copies of your transcripts, there is no need for official transcripts or academic records for initial review.

    If you are admitted, the University will then request official copies of this material.

    Letters of Recommendation

    MS Applicants only

    Acceptable recommendations will come from current or former professors who can assess your potential for graduate work. Other recommenders, such as employers, are also acceptable. Paper copies are not accepted.  This is optional for applicants to the Certificate program.

    English Language Test Scores

    Department  Application

    Complete the Department of Writing Studies application form and upload it under Graduate Program Additional Application in the Program Supplementary Information section in ApplyYourself.

    Writing Samples

    Upload two writing samples into the Other Information portion on the Graduate Program Supplementary Information section of ApplyYourself. At least one sample must demonstrate your writing proficiency. Submitting published works is recommended; however, undergraduate work is also acceptable.  To demonstrate your verbal and visual proficiency, the second sample may include other media such as graphics, photographs, slides, art work, or audio or video tape.   Materials will be returned upon request if return postage is included

    GRE Scores

    MS Applicants only

    GRE Scores (U.S. and Canadian applicants only) should be entered in the Test Information-Self-Reported field in ApplyYourself.  Click here for more information about the GRE.  This is not required for applicants to the Certificate program
