About IAP

Who We Are

Many people are involved in the Industrial Affiliates Program, including people from the various Industrial Affiliate companies and the Department of Writing Studies faculty.

Each affiliate has one or two main representatives to the IAP. These representatives coordinate IAP activities at their company, which can include attendance at annual events, funding, and assigning fellow and intern partners. IAP representatives also work with the program chair to identify trends and plan topics that address all affiliate perspectives.

Our current IAP industry representatives include Medtronic and U.S. Bank. In the past, we have also collaborated with Unisys Corp., IBM, and Veritas/Symantec.

The IAP Co-Chairs coordinate the program's activities, including annual events, funding, placing interns and fellows, and recruiting new affiliates. If you have questions about the program or would like more information on program activities, please contact one of the co-chairs:

Department of Writing Studies

The Department of Writing Studies houses nationally recognized faculty and programs in technical writing and communication. The department offers a B.S. and M.S. in Scientific and Technical Communication, a post-baccalaureate Certificate in Technical Communication, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Scientific and Technical Communication. The department's Industrial Affiliates Program is one of the most long standing industry-university partnerships in technical communication in the country.
